My 2018 Scout Summer Camp

Form August 5-10 I had my cub scout summer camp at Camp Workcoeman. I had to pack enough things for 6 days including bug spray, sunscreen, flashlights, extra batteries, clothes, extra clothes, ect.

Saturday
It was a 20 minutes drive to Camp Workcoeman. When we arrived we took all of our things up to my campsite, Tunxis. Then we found my tent and my tent buddy, Zach. So we started put up mosquito net. We had to come to camp in our swimsuits because after we arrived there and set up the cot we had a swim test. Then we went for the swim test. It was only 3 laps front crawl, 1 lap backstroke, and 10 seconds of floating on your back. I got a tag meaning I was a beginner. Then we played games until dinner. After dinner we started a fire and sat around it until lights out (bedtime) at 9 PM.
Monday
We woke up at 5:00 for the polar bear plunge which happens everyday and is optional. Those who were going got their swimsuits on and went to the waterfront. You may think the water is cold but it is warm and it wakes you up. When we got back we played games and drank hot cocoa until breakfast. Some of us went earlier because they're waiters meaning they serve everyone for the day. After breakfast we had more jobs like hosing the latrine Fire warden ect. The activities were -
  • 09:15-10:00        Crafts
  • 10:15-11:00      Sports
  • 11:15-12:00      Rock Climbing
Then was lunch and siesta. Siesta is basically free time that is when you can go to the trading post and play games and it happens every day. After Siesta are more activities.
  • 02:15-03:00    Nature
  • 03:15-04:00    Swimming
  • 04:15-05:00    Archery
After the activities we have 30 minutes of free time (Where we play games like chess, checkers, uno ect.) and then we change into the scout uniform for dinner at 6 pm. After dinner there is always a campfire (except for tuesday and friday when the campfire is after we go to the amphitheatre where we do skits and songs). This time we also had S'mores. You can just chill at the campfire talk with your friends until lights out.

Tuesday
As we do everyday we woke up to do the polar bear plunge. After the plunge are the every day jobs, hot cocoa, and free time followed by breakfast. Then we get ready for the rest of the day.

  • 09:15-10:00        BB Gun Shooting
